Island Time

Lucky me to grow up on a beautiful Island full of trees, bees and blackberries! My parents still live on Bainbridge and I go back often to visit with them, smell the salty water and pick from the overflowing garden. Not only is the garden gigantic, it grows everything from radishes (my favorite!) to kohlrabi (really weird looking- picture below) to wheat. Every time I visit I leave with zucchini's the size of baseball bats and, in the summer, more fresh picked blackberries than I could ever eat! If you've never dug for potatoes before you should try- it's so fun! It's like tons of little surprises pop up every time you uncover one! There can be so many hiding in there! Yukon golds are my favs (golden mashed potatoes!) but little red potatoes are a close second. If you live somewhere where the blackberries are busting out right now- try a cobbler. With cream or ice cream.. you really can't go wrong ;)

My happy mom, Isn't she cute!?

My dad built this little shed and for my sister and me to play in when we were little. Now it holds dry wood for the fire.
