In The Garden
Two years ago my mom discovered vegetable gardening. She's always grown flowers and growing up my sister and I always got our own little plot that we would tenderly care for and water for about...2 weeks, until some other amazing tidbit caught our attention and we'd become totally devoted to that new joy for a while. This is not the case with my mom. Since planting a few vegetables in a good size plot in their yard two summers ago, my parents have continued to rip up grass, extend their fence and plant more and more vegetables than one family could ever eat. This year they grew:
YukonGoldPotatoes.RedPotatoes.CherryTomatoes.HeirloomTomatoes.Peas.SweetPeas.Rosemary.Basil.Parsnips.Rutabaga.Kohlrabi.Turnips.RedOnions.YellowOnions.GreenBeans.BushBeans.Romanie.Kale.SwissChard.Zucchini.Carrots.Strawberries.Cucumbers.&Wheat.
& a lot of each! It's safe to say I love going out into the garden and seeing what new things have popped up since my last visit! Unearthing tiny red & gold potatoes, yanking gigantic rutabaga out of the ground to expose the huge edible root and watching my mom delight in the joy she gets from growing things is too much fun...
